The unemployment rate in Mexico dropped to 4.4 percent in November of 2020 from 4.7 percent in the previous month and below market expectations of 4.5 percent. Figures confirmed the labor market continued to recover amid the ongoing reopening of businesses following coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Between October and November of 2020, the number of unemployed people fell by 191 thousand to 2.4 million while the number of employed stood at 53 million. In contract there was a decrease in active population (55.4 million from 55.6 million in October. A year earlier, the jobless rate was much lower at 3.4 percent.

Figures confirmed the labor market continued to recover amid the ongoing reopening of businesses following coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Between September and October 2020, there were increases in both active population (55.6 million compared to 53.8 million in September) and employment (53 million compared to 51.1 million) while the number of unemployed people fell by 129 thousand to 2.6 million. A year earlier, the jobless rate was much lower at 3.6 percent.

The unemployment rate in Mexico fell to 5.1 percent in September of 2020 from 5.2 percent in the previous month and below market expectations of 5.3 percent. Still, the jobless rate remains among one of the highest since 2014 as the coronavirus pandemic hit the labour market. The jobless rate dropped for women (4.5 percent compared to 5.2 percent in August) while rose for men (5.4 percent compared to 5.3 percent). Between August and September 2020, there were increases in both active population (53.8 million compared to 53.2 million) and employment (51.1 million compared to 50.4 million) while the number of unemployed people was nearly unchanged at 2.7 million. A year earlier, the jobless rate was much lower at 3.8 percent.
