Egypt's unemployment rate decreased to 7.3 percent in the third quarter of 2020 compared to 7.8 percent in the same period a year ago and 9.6 percent in the previous quarter. It was the lowest jobless rate since comparable data began in 2003, attributed to the return of normal daily activities in the wake of the easing of restrictions previously imposed to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 151 thousand to 2.062 million while the labour force went down by 234 thousand to 28.171 million.
