Belgium Inflation Rate Drops to 6-Month Low in November
The annual inflation rate in Belgium decreased to 0.51 percent in November of 2020 from 0.74 percent in the previous month, the lowest since May. Cost slowed for furniture & household goods (1.4 percent vs 1.6 percent in October) and prices fell faster for housing & utilities (-1.5 percent vs -1.3 percent); transport (-0.8 percent vs -0.3 percent) and communication (-0.7 percent vs -0.4 percent). On the other hand, prices for food & non-alcoholic beverages advanced faster (2.6 percent vs 2.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.16 percent, after a 0.2 percent increase in October.

Belgium Inflation Rate Rises to 0.8% in August
Belgium's inflation rate increased to 0.82 percent year-on-year in August 2020 from 0.73 percent in the previous month, with the largest upward effect coming from fresh seafood (34.4 percent), postal mail (13.8 percent), jewelry (13.2 percent) and fresh fruit (10.7 percent). At the same time, there were declines in cost of natural gas (-15.8 percent), holiday centers, camping sites and youth hostels (-15.6 percent), domestic heating oil (-14.6 percent) and transport by airplane (-14.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced 0.06 percent in August, as higher prices for non-alcoholic beverages, restaurants and cafés, bread and cereals, hotel rooms, alcoholic beverages and the purchase of vehicles were offset by decreases in fruit, airplane tickets, vegetables, holiday villages and camping sites.

Belgium Inflation Rate at 5-Month High of 0.73%
The annual inflation rate in Belgium increased to 0.73 percent in July of 2020 from 0.6 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation since February, as cost advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.7 percent vs 3.3 percent in June) and recreation & culture (2.5 percent vs 2.2 percent). In addition, prices rebounded for restaurants & hotels (0.9 percent vs -0.2 percent) while inflation slowed for miscellaneous goods & services (1.7 percent vs 1.9 percent) and furniture & household goods (1.4 percent vs 1.6 percent). Meantime, prices continued to fall for housing & utilities (-2.1 percent vs -2.2 percent) and transport (-0.5 percent vs -0.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.2 percent, following a 0.1 percent gain in June.

Belgium Inflation Rate Slows to 5-Month Low of 0.57%
The annual inflation rate in Belgium edged down to 0.57 percent in April of 2020 from 0.62 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation since November of 2019, as cost slowed for clothing & footwear (0.09 percent vs 0.29 percent in March); restaurants & hotels (0.74 percent vs 1.16 percent) and recreation & culture (2.21 percent vs 2.23 percent). In addition, fell further for transport (-2.38 percent vs -0.01 percent); housing & utilities (-1.84 percent vs -2.15 percent) and communication (-3.28 percent vs -1.91 percent). On the other hand, cost of food & non-alcoholic beverages increased 3.97 percent, the highest since July of 2013 and accelerating from a 2.34 percent rise. On a monthly basis, consumer prices showed no growth, after a 0.16 percent gain in March.
